
David R. Kerrigan
David Kerrigan is a director of the firm. He practices as a trial lawyer with extensive experience in civil and criminal matters. David is the former Chief of the Government Bureau for the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, where he served as lead attorney on a number of major civil cases brought for and against the Commonwealth. David was also responsible for the work of the Trial and Administrative Law Divisions in the Office that handled a wide variety of cases including torts, employment, contracts, civil rights, eminent domain, property, administrative appeals and challenges to state regulations and statutes. While working at the Attorney General’s Office, David served as trial counsel and successfully defended the Commonwealth in a six week jury trial where plaintiffs sought billions of dollars in attorneys fees arising out of their representation of the Commonwealth in the 1990’s tobacco litigation. In addition, David served as one of the lead assistant attorneys general responsible for the Attorney General’s Central Artery/Third Harbor Tunnel Project’s litigation. David also worked on a number of high profile civil rights cases. These included the successful defense of a state college and its employees in a case of first impression in the Commonwealth concerning whether covert videotape surveillance in the workplace constituted an illegal search or an invasion of privacy and the defense of a number of state officials against First Amendment claims. In addition to his work in the Office of the Attorney General, David also worked as a partner in two Boston law firms focusing his practice on First Amendment cases and business and criminal litigation. David is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association, and the Boston Inn of Courts. He is admitted to practice in the Massachusetts state courts, as well as in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the First Circuit Court of Appeals, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Tax Court. David graduated cum laude with a B.A. from Colby College. He received his J.D. cum laude from Boston University School of Law. |
