Employment Law
The Firm serves as regional trial counsel for several Fortune 500
companies in claims involving employment law, discrimination litigation,
and labor arbitrations. The Firm’s attorneys
have substantial experience trying cases before state and federal administrative
agencies and courts at trial and on appeal throughout the New England
Region. These cases involve legal issues in the area of employment
law including:
- Family and Medical Leave Act claims;
- Claims alleging discrimination based upon age, sexual orientation,
national origin, gender, race, handicap, or disability;
- Lawsuits alleging the existence of an employment contract arising out of the terms of an employee handbook;
- Enforcement of and challenges to non-competition agreements in
employment contracts; and
- Sexual harassment claims
Representative Employment Litigation Experience:
- Jury trials before state and federal
courts in Massachusetts and Connecticut in cases alleging various types of employment discrimination;
- Successful argument before the United States Court of Appeals for
the First Circuit on a novel issue regarding the scope of the
FMLA;
- Representing employers and employees before the U.S. Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
